Lamprell Expands Role in UAE Offshore Energy Projects
Lamprell has been appointed as part of a consortium with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for a major offshore engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) project in the UAE, adding a new project to the company’s growing portfolio in the regional energy sector.
Under the consortium agreement, Lamprell will be responsible for the EPCI scope related to the project’s subsea pipeline, while the wider development includes multiple offshore facilities and upgrades to existing infrastructure.
The announcement comes as demand continues for large-scale engineering and infrastructure services supporting offshore oil and gas developments in the region.
Lamprell and Larsen & Toubro Join Forces
The project will be delivered through a consortium between Lamprell and Larsen & Toubro, with L&T serving as the lead partner.
The wider scope includes engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning of offshore facilities, as well as upgrades to existing infrastructure. Lamprell’s specific role focuses on the subsea pipeline EPCI works.
The companies’ involvement highlights the role of international and regional engineering contractors in delivering complex offshore energy infrastructure in the UAE.
A New Project for Lamprell’s UAE Operations
The contract is particularly significant for Lamprell because the company has operated in the UAE for five decades. Lamprell currently has major facilities in Hamriyah and Jebel Ali, supporting fabrication and project delivery for offshore and onshore energy developments.
Its Hamriyah facilities cover approximately 800,000 square metres and include fabrication, assembly and load-out capabilities, while its Jebel Ali facility supports offshore and onshore energy projects and includes fabrication and modular assembly capabilities.
Supporting the UAE’s Offshore Energy Infrastructure
The project forms part of the broader development of offshore energy infrastructure in the UAE. Recent reporting has linked the Lamprell-L&T consortium to ADNOC Offshore’s Umm Shaif Gas Cap project, a major development designed to expand gas production capacity in Abu Dhabi.
ADNOC announced in July 2026 a final investment decision for the wider Umm Shaif Gas Cap project, with the development expected to produce up to 600 million cubic feet per day of natural gas when fully operational. Production is expected to begin by 2030.
For contractors operating in the UAE, projects of this scale create opportunities across engineering, fabrication, subsea construction, logistics and other specialist energy services.
Lamprell’s Growing Energy Portfolio
The latest award adds to Lamprell’s activity across the energy sector in 2026. The company has also announced projects involving onshore gas infrastructure and pipeline replacement, alongside its offshore oil and gas and offshore wind businesses.
With operations in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, Lamprell positions itself as an EPCI contractor serving the international energy industry, with capabilities spanning offshore structures, subsea facilities, pipelines, onshore infrastructure and offshore wind.
The latest UAE project therefore adds another example of how specialist engineering contractors are participating in the development and expansion of the region’s energy infrastructure.
